WELCOME TO THE PERMASCAPE

A permaculture landscape designed to grow food, create jobs & build a better future

Imagine a thriving greenspace, buzzing with purpose & possibility, where neighbors gather to grow food, run regenerative businesses, and build the infrastructure that will sustain their community for years to come. This is the vision driving the Permascape Project: a local ecosystem of abundance, rooted in the principles of permaculture, based on four key components:

image
COMMUNITY COOPERATIVE

A member-owned & operated collective organized to steward land & improve local life.

image
PERMACULTURE MICROFARM

A four-season food garden of fruits & vegetables supported by a rich mix of native plants.

image
SUSTAINABILITY LAB

A site for developing new ways to conserve resources, repurpose waste & promote community resilience.

image
BUSINESS INCUBATOR

A launchpad for ethical products & services born from the permascape's regenerative practices.

ABOUT

Hi, I'm Chris. I'm a community-builder, community gardener & community business advocate. The Permascape Project is how I hope to connect those all together. I'm the co-founder of Engather, a local gift-sharing project born & built in Kingston, with participants throughout the Hudson Valley. For almost a decade, I helped run Brooklyn's Union Street Garden & Community Development, and for several years was part of the Crown Heights Keepers, an award-winning team behind one of the "Greenest Blocks in Brooklyn". In the 2010's I founded a business that worked with local farmers (Kings County Jerky), and helped the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce represent the needs of the borough's small-scale food producers. As a student of regenerative agroecology, I'm focused on building local ecosystems that create abundance for people & planet - equally.
